Title: Glass and Seal Work Recommendations?
Post by: MINIzilla on September 30, 2019, 11:58:03 AM
Good morning,

I've searched the forums and noted the "Body Work" recommendations, and while there's often overlap with glass work, I want to ask if you have specific recommendations and experiences with companies for glass work for our Minis?

I'm looking to replace the front, rear, and quarter window seals on our new (to us) Mini.

Thanks in advance for any advice, recommendations, cautions, experiences, etc.

Cheers!

Scott, have I been sleeping or did you just recently pick up the Mini? Details, man... details! :D

Aye, sir. We literally (as the kids say, and overuse) purchased it on the 60th BIRTHDAY of Mini!

It's over at Kip Motor Company to resolve an oil leak (surprised?) and a wiring issue (the result of its 1 prior owner, in Japan, wiring in a 4-port 12-volt hub).  We ended up over there after reading your threads about finding someone to resolve your Classic's issues.  They seem to be great folks!  They gave us a shop tour and it's just impressive seeing the work they do - the craftsmanship.  I definitely need to reach out to you offline to swap some notes.

Our hope, but not optimistic expectation, is that they'll have it done in time to caravan it alongside our '17 JCW Clubman up to MITO in a couple of weeks.

Very nice!  Yes the folks at Kip do good work and Debra does a nice job of keeping people updated on their project. I caught them at a bad time, they were swamped with work when I called about servicing my car. I probably had to wait three months just to get in the door. They definitely aren't the cheapest place in town but they know their stuff and do very nice work.
When things slow down you'll have to bring the 'new' car to a MM meeting so everyone can check it out.

Have fun in the Ozarks!
