Guys,

I'm looking for an early Mk1 gas cap to match one that came on my '67 Cooper S.  Mine has a flanged perimeter, so it's a slightly different shape than what's currently available.  Anyone?

I think I still have the original gas cap from my '65.  I'll look around and see if I can find it

Thanks John,

It was a long shot but heck, can't hurt to check w/ my local Mini connections before branching out.  Let me know if there is any odd part you're hunting, in case I can reciprocate.

best,

Chris

Thanks, Chris.  That's what this group is all about -- helping each other.  I haven't had a chance to rummage through all of my parts bins yet but I'll let you know if I can find that cap.

Found it!  It looks to be in great shape but it needs a new rubber gasket.  I'll email you some pics

John, could you send me a pic too?

When I bought the '63 Cooper 25 years ago (uh... now I feel old) the gasket was shot on the gas cap so I picked up a similar looking gas cap at Target.  Stant 11623 or BG23.   I know the part number since I picked up a couple spares Wink

Not a show item match but it's worked.

Cheers,

Jim

For the concourse look, the cap that was on my '63 Cooper was identical to the mid-60s MGBs (big surprise).  And not too far from what I remember on my brother's 1967 Chevy C10.

Cheers,

Jim
