Events from 2004

Fewer events and gatherings were reported during 2004. That doesn't mean things were not happening, just fewer write ups. Below are the things sent in.

2004 dawned with a number of Mini/MINI owners getting together at Texas World Speedway in College Station for an All MINI Track Day. The date was Sunday, January 4th. Thanks go to Faron Smith for puting it all together and "herding the cats" once they got there.

The DFW MOT crew decided to follow through on something they started in 2003 and have a monthly get-together. They planned their first event of 2004 at a place called the Blue Goose in Addison. The date was set for Sunday, January 11th. Here's Angel's account of the event: "In all we had 7 Mini's and 13 Miniacs. Good company, fine food and drink, and a beautiful winter day. After brunch, several of us caravaned thru Dallas to the Antique Mall at Love Field where we found a 69 Mini with 1991 specs for sale."

On February 8th, the DFW crowd got together again at a place called the Londoner Pub - on Midway Rd. just south of the Beltline. Classic pub-grub, English and Domestic brews, and lots of good company. A number of our members also made it to the CVAR event at TWS that same weekend - February 7th & 8th.

Not to be outdone by their DFW counterparts, the Houston MOT members decided to get together on Friday, February 27th, at Star Pizza.

Just because we own and drive Minis/MINIs doesn't mean that we can't have fun in other vehicles, too. On February 29th, ten of our MOT members took advantage of an invitation from the Jaguar Drivers Club of North Texas and formed two five-member teams to participate in the All British Indoor Grand Prix at TBC Indoor Kart Racing in Dallas. A good time was had by all.
