What would cause the lead in the distributor from the points to the connector block on the side keeps burning into also one time the points melted together.  Checked continuity and the points are isolated, no other shorts and getting 12 V from the negitive side of the coil to ground. I have never heard of this so what could be the issue?

IWhat about the coil?

Hi John,

Don't know if you had any success with this yet...

Did you see if the condensor was shorting out?

If you're burning wires there's a short to ground somewhere in there.   Have you tried putting an ammeter on the power feed to the coil (+) side assuming negative ground car.

Cheers,

Jim
