How 'bout a whole 998?  Crankshaft condition unknown because I've never torn it down!

John, thanks for offer. Let us (my brother and I) see if we can figure out why/how I ended up with apparently a 1098 crank. It's been so frickin'  long since I got it that I can't remember. A 1098 crank won't fit a 998, right?  Need to double check part number. Got a really sad story to tell you later about my Mini stuff.

I seem to recall learning the 1098 was the same block as the 998.  The crank and pistons were supposedly the primary differences with the 1098 crank being a stroked version of the 998 crank.

Take this with a large grain of salt as my recollections have gotten scrambled and dusty over the years.

I am checking it out to see if I did this on purpose. Has been so long I forget. Thought I had this all figured out and planned. Maybe the person I got it from thought it was a 998. Will see.

Hmm, interesting if the blocks are the same, as I have a large stock of 1098s.   Since I had to rearrange my library over the past several years it'll take some digging for parts books.

Cheers,

Jim
