Classic Mini Cooper
"Tigger" is a 1985 Austin Mini in excellent condition and state of tune. The car is close to "as-built" condition and comes with original left-hand drive and only ~36,000 miles (60k kilometers) on the odo. This Mini was built for export and went to Netherlands before coming to the U.S. as a Diplomatic import.
Unlike many classic Minis, this one is unmolested. Except for the Pertronix distributor, the carbureted 998cc engine is original and runs well. The tires were replaced two years ago and have perhaps 200 miles total since. The original interior is clean and presentable.
Other amenities include 3-point front seatbelts, seat headrests, tinted glass, locking steering wheel, heater/defogger, rear fog lamp, conversion to quartz iodine headlamps, driving lights, and an AM/FM/cassette player which may have been installed when new. The car has always been garaged and may have been rained on perhaps twice in approx 20 years. Sale includes a small collection of books and spare parts.
This is not a show car but a nice looking and reliable weekend driver, one that can be driven with exuberance and a smile. It's great fun on blacktop roads and highly suitable for Cars and Coffees, fun rallies, ice cream outings, and grandchildren. (Kids love this car!) Expect to be noticed when you drive this -- many New Minis will flash or wave as you pass.
Reasons for sale include creeping old age, lack of frequent use, and a need for garage space. Pictures are available to those with serious interest.
