Started on what should have been a very simple project on Li'l Red today -- mounting some 6-1/2 inch speakers in the rear parcel shelf.  But I quickly discovered that a previous owner had really butchered the metal there.  He'd cut some jagged holes for some off-size speakers -- too big for 6-1/2" and too small for 8".  So, I had to cut some metal plates to cover the old jagged holes and give me a clean surface to start over again.  I was able to mark the speaker positions on the underside of the carpet that covers the parcel shelf and then remove the carpet so I could cut the holes for the speakers.  Now I'll be able to use that carpet as a template to mark where I need to cut the new metal plates so the speakers will just drop in.   Fortunately, the weather here is supposed to be really nice for most of the next week so I should have plenty of time to do it right before the weather turns nasty again.  Simple project?  NOT!!!  It's turned out to be a complicated mess!
